RENM Performance has showcased their tuned version of a Lamborghini Gallardo. RENM call it the STS-700, and rather ingeniously, what they’ve done is work backwards from a Lamborghini Super Trofeo Stradale car, so that you can now have a racing car that’s been converted to street use. In RENM’s own words, the STS-700 is the closest thing to a Blancpain Super Trofeo race car for the road.
Any argument against that fact is futile when you have a quick look over the performance numbers: 522 kW (700-horsepower) from the characterful Lamborghini 5.2-litre V10, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h. The E-Gear two-peddle transmission is the still unchanged however.
One of the main weapons in the RENM Gallardo’s armoury is light weight. The performance is possible thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre aero parts that keep overall weight low. Then you get the adjustable front and rear spoilers and diffusers for maximum aero efficiency.
An ultra-light exhaust system saves further weight in the back, and titanium connecting rods, larger titanium inlet, custom billet camshafts, exhaust ports, exhaust valves, custom billet pistons and crankshaft, as well as a valve-controlled titanium exhaust system which is 63% lighter than before, are what improves power from the V10.
Other upgrades include fully adjustable Ohlins dampers, adjustable front anti-roll bar, reworked wishbone suspension links and a carbon ceramic brake kit to help slow the beast down. The cockpit looks like one belonging to a race car with Alcantara-wrapped lightweight sport seats, modified gear shifters, customized roll cage with four-point harness, fire extinguisher and seat belts.
A Lamborghini race car for the road? Why the hell not. Although we’re adamant this car will spend most of its life on race tracks, as the pictures dictate.
