Nissan Micra Gets New V-Shaped Grille

A facelifted Nissan Micra (also known under the March nameplate in some countries) was revealed ahead of the Bangkok Motor Show. Focusing largely on exterior styling, the Micra’s update brings a new large V-shaped grille opening, flanked by sharp headlights.

The current ‘K13′ Nissan Micra made its debut in 2010, so expecting a first update in 2013/2014 seems a bit early but inevitable for a cheap car that hasn’t quite hit the mark as it should have for Nissan.

A wider, lower, under grille also makes an appearance on the re-shaped bumper, while larger new foglight bezels replace the small ports of the current model. Updates at the rear end include a new bumper design and new LED-look tail-lights; along with a fresh choice of alloy wheels and hubcaps.

As with the exterior, the interior of the cabin has been given a redesigned centre stack with gloss black trim, new controls and new rectangular air-conditioning vents. There are fresh new colors and trims, along with different graphics for the Multi-Information Display.

Nissan has not confirmed any changes to the Micra’s mechanical package, so we can assume it will keep the same low cost 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, as well as the 1.5-litre four-cylinder under the bonnet. Local launch timing for the updated Micra is still to be confirmed, however a debut late this year or early in 2014 is likely.
