ABT Tunes Latest Audi R8 V10 Plus To Perfection

German mega-tuners, ABT Sportsline, have taken the latest Audi R8 V10 Plus by the scruff of the neck and returned a stunningly-tuned creation. There have been many iterations of tuned Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8 V8/V10 in the past seven years, but that doesn’t stop ABT from getting busy with Audi’s latest and greatest creation, the newly-tweaked Audi R8 V10.

And yes, we know exactly what you’re going to ask. “Are they using a new Audi R8 V10 Plus model?” With the carbon fibre and aerodynamic tweaks already down for them to give them a head start? The answer is yes of course. ABT are attempting to create a car to obliterate Audi’s finest creation. But when ABT is done with this car, it is going to be a better than the best efforts of Ingolstadt?

As we can see from these fetching renderings, the Audi R8 V10 Plus will get attractive new front and rear bumpers with enhanced splitters, diffusers, side skirts to stick it to the ground and a big rear wing for added stability. Those offset quad exhausts work perfectly as well.

To add to the already extensive use of carbon fibre of Audi’s Plus model, all these new parts are to be made from carbon fibre as well, which will undoubtedly shave further weight off the car. ABT do not say how much they hope to save by enforcing this diet to the tuned R8. A further weight-optimised exhaust system will also be deployed in the name of keeping weight as low as possible.

Speaking of lowered, ABT Sportsline will fit a sporty, lowered, coilover suspension to hug the tweaked R8 V10 Plus even closer to the ground and 19-inch wheels from ABT Sportsline with 235/35 R19 and 305/30 R19 tyres front and rear will be part of the package.

Tuned ABT Sportsline Audi’s are all about their performance and over seven years of the Lamborghini V10’s lifetime, it has seen many a tuning effort ladled upon it. ABT Sportsline boosts the output of this car’s Lamborghini-derived V10 engine from the standard 386 kW up to 441 kW. There is little increase in torque from the normally aspirated engine, just 10 Nm extra in fact. Performance figures are 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h.

The best part about this ABT Sportsline Audi R8 V10 Plus, that supersedes all that have come before it, is something the famed Volkswagen and Audi tuner will undoubtedly leave completely untouched: the silky-smooth double-clutch S-Tronic gearbox.
