Based on the newly-launch Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG, German fat-boy tuners, Brabus, have revealed their Brabus B63 620 Widestar. If the size wasn’t enough to get you quaking in your boots, the 620 stands for the B63’s power in horsepower, which equates to 456 kW. Ouch.
Muscular fender flares at both the front and the back; high-tech forged 23-inch wheels shod in low profile rubber; and a new large front air inlet for improved breathing of pumped-up 5.5-litre Bi-Turbo V8 engine gives this Brabus more clout than a Mike Tyson uppercut. The rear end gains a bespoke Brabus spoiler, ceramic coated tailpipes, lots of them, and a rear diffuser.
The 23-inch rims are said to provide a weight saving of 15% and they can be wrapped in high-performance street rubber (305/30 R 23) from Continental, Pirelli and Yokohama. The wheels are complemented by the Airmatic suspension which lowers the ride by 30 mm. Brabus enhances the braking system with six-piston aluminium calipers which grip onto the 16-inch discs. That’s bigger than most production cars’ wheels.
Under the bonnet, Mercedes-Benz AMG Brabus 5.5-litre V8 Bi-Turbo engine gains a ‘PowerXtra’ module as a plug-and-play device and comes with new mapping for injection and ignition and an increase in boost pressure. Power jumps from 410 kW to 456 kW and torque from 760 Nm to 820 Nm available between, 2 000 and 5 000 r/min, while new performance figures come out at: 0 – 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h.
On the interior the driver and passengers will enjoy aftermarket finery courtesy of stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo, as well as a Brabus all-leather interior crafted from Mastik leather and unique Alcantara.
