The Lexus LFA supercar project began 13 years ago and during that time it was restarted from scratch at one point and nearly didn’t make production at all. Between 2010 and 2012, however, 500 LFAs rolled off the Lexus production line for a cool US$375 000 a piece. The LFA looks expensive, sounds fast and goes fast too, but there will never be another, which is why Lexus have created this tribute video.
But do we really believe there will never be another LFA? It won’t necessarily be called the LFA and it isn’t likely to be powered by a naturally aspirated V10, but a more efficient and faster Lexus supercar is probably to be expected. After all, manufacturers are not in the habit of investing money into dead-end projects. Plus, the knowledge and experience gain with the LFA has got to be put to good use somewhere. Look out for some of the LFA’s trickery in future Lexus products and a LFA successor well before the decade is done.
