While all the talk at the moment is of the upcoming BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe, G-Power have been plugging away at a monumental tuning package for the current E92 M3, which has resulted in their M3 GT2 R, and it’s road legal!
The outlandish aerodynamic updates involve a carbon fibre overhaul of the M3′s body panels. The front and rear bumpers, front fenders, side skirts and vented bonnet are all hewn from the lightweight material, as is the oversized rear wing. As a result, the car weighs in at less than 1 500 kg.
The M3′s suspension has been completely retuned too, with a new coil-over system installed. Wheels are 20-inch Silverstone RS items wrapped in competition spec Michelin Pilot Cup tyres, sized 245/30 ZR20 at the front and 315/25 ZR20 at the rear. The standard brakes have been replaced in favour of six-piston brake calipers with 396 mm discs in front and four-piston calipers with 380 mm discs at the back.
The car’s low and wide stance, as well as the wide and grippy tyres, are not simply for show either. The G-Power M3 GT2 R boasts a massive 530 kW and 700 Nm of torque. The power gains have been achieved by increasing the V8′s capacity from 4.0- to 4.6-litres, adding a supercharger and modified crankshaft. A new cooling system has been installed to help keep the engine running optimally, while a full titanium exhaust system further reduces weight and helps to extract exhaust gases while no doubt sounding great.
Having been design for the racetrack, the interior has had the rear seats removed, the front seats are carbon fibre items that save 12 kg over standard, while a full FIA specification roll cage has been added for safety purposes.
With all that power and little weight, the G-Power BMW M3 GT2 R will accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of over 330 km/h.
Owning a G-Power M3 GT2 R will cost you EUR195 310, but M3 owners can opt for select items to bolster the appeal of their M3. Adding the supercharger and titanium exhaust system will cost EUR41 650, adding the carbon fibre body kit costs EUR30 000, the 20-inch wheel and tyre combination is a cool EUR12 000 and the carbon ceramic brakes to stop it all cost EUR26 238.
