Toyota has launched a new limited edition version of South Africa’s all-time best-selling vehicle – the Toyota Hilux. Called the Toyota Hilux Dakar Edition, this special range celebrates the performance of the Hilux in the 2013 Dakar Rally. The announcement of the new Dakar model coincided with the announcement of the Toyota Imperial SA Dakar team for 2014.
The Dakar package is available for a limited period only (July to September) on Raider grade models, across all three body types, (Single, Xtra and Double Cab) and features a number of additional items as standard equipment.
“I am delighted that we have announced the arrival of the Dakar Edition, which offers a fresh approach to our tough Hilux range,” says Kerry Roodt, General Manager, Toyota South Africa Motors. “Its combination of bold, rugged looks with a high level of standard equipment makes it an even more attractive proposition for the style- and value-conscious buyer.”
The exterior updates include a stainless steel nudge bar, rear styling bar and side steps, all with Dakar logo. Additional accessories include a towbar, tonneau cover, smokey grey alloy wheels, body coloured side mirrors and door handles, as well as a Dakar tailgate badge.
Inside, the Dakar edition models boast black leather seats and door inserts with red stitching, a black carpet set with red Dakar embroidery and red border, as well as a reverse camera for the Xtra and Double Cab models.
Prices start from R292 200 for the Single Cab 2.7 VVTi Raised Body Dakar and end at R509 100 for the Double Cab 4.0 V6 4×4 Dakar.
