The Volvo C30 was discontinued earlier this year, replaced by the slightly larger, more practical and contemporary V40. Before the death of the C30, however, Volvo’s tuning partner, Polestar, had built a highly tuned version of the coupé.
Known as the Volvo C30 Performance Concept, Polestar have installed a larger intercooler and turbocharger to boost the 2.5-litre 5-cylinder’s output to 302 kW and 510 Nm of torque. The company has also install a Haldex all-wheel drive system, with limited-slip differentials at each axle, 19-inch BBS alloy wheels and sticky Pirelli rubber. An new race-derived aerodynamics package achieves a combination of improved cooling, added downforce and smoother airflow.
Scandinavian Touring Car Champion, Robert Dahlgren, puts all the above to good use in less than ideal conditions at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
