Updated Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Launched In S.A.

Mitsubishi Motors SA has launched a facelift of its 4×4 Pajero Sport. The biggest change is the adoption of the next generation 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, which replaces the previous 3.2-litre unit.

The newer generation engine means improved fuel consumption and lower emissions, while at the same time increasing power and torque from 120 kW to 131 kW and 343 Nm to 400 Nm respectively. In models with the 5-speed automatic transmission, maximum torque is 350 Nm.

The prices remain unchanged at R435 900 and R445 900 for the manual and automatic models respectively, while a 3-year/100 000km warranty and 5-year/ 90 000km service plan are standard along with Mitsubishi’s reputation as a manufacturer of solid off-roaders.

“The fact that we have been able to negotiate such favourable pricing while improving our offering substantially makes the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport a very attractive proposition for people looking for a high specification, large-size SUV,” says Mitsubishi Motors SA CEO, Jaco Oosthuizen.

The exterior has been updated slightly too, with a revised grille and front bumper, rear number plate garnish, body colour door handles and rear view mirrors, of which the latter can now be folded electronically and incorporate turn signals. The taillight clusters have been redesigned and there is a new, more aggressively styled set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
