They say ‘the good die young.’ The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has proven that with a short-lived four year production run of the menacing SLS AMG – which will come to an end with a 350 limited-run production of the SLS AMG GT Final Edition. The Final Edition model will be showcased at the Los Angeles Motor Show later this week.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has already had a few limited edition models tagged onto the regular production run: First there was the SLS AMG GT, then the SLS AMG Black Series as a special limited-run model, and now this Final Edition for the retro-inspired super car.

The Final Edition gets a carbon-fibre bonnet and front splitter and a fixed rear wing. These join carbon fibre mirror housings and darkened head and tail light clusters with unique 10-spoke alloy wheels filling the wheel arches. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition does not get any more power, however, and the 6.2-litre V8 remains with a 435 kW and 650 NM of normally aspirated grunt.

350 SLS AMG GT Final Edition cars will be split between coupe and roadster body styles and left- and right-hand drive. This paves the way for Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation supercar, known as the AMG GT, SLC and C190 Coupe in various circles.
