If you’ve never heard of hydrographic printing, then this video from HG Arts in Barcelona is likely to impress. Also known as ‘water printing’, the process works by laying a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film, with graphics painted on it, into a tub of water before spraying the PVA with a solution that turns it into a bonding liquid that floats. HG Arts then dips the wheel, or any other component for that matter, into the water. The artwork wraps itself around the wheel and adheres to it uniformly as it is lowered into the tank.
