Set for its world premiere at the January 13th Detroit Motor Show, the hot-to-trot Mini John Cooper Works Concept previews the British brand’s most spirited small car ever, all be it in a thinly-veiled show car.
The all-new third-generation F56 Mini Cooper hatch was recently revealed at the 2013 Los Angeles and Tokyo motor shows, but the JCW Concept previews sportier styling, an aerodynamically tweaked body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, a new front bumper with large air intakes, new LED headlights, a black-gloss grille surround and prominent roof spoiler.
Sporty red detailing comes in the form of unique exterior wing mirror caps, a red roof, a red indicator and fuel cap surround, red brake calipers, and additional red detailing on the radiator grille and front/rear bumpers. A new faux-rear diffuser framing the centre-mounted, carbon-wrapped exhaust tips looks grand too.
Official performance details haven’t been released but the Mini Cooper JCW Concept will no doubt take performance up a level from the 141kW and 280Nm of torque the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder already produces in the Mini Cooper S. The current and outgoing Mini Cooper JCW is rated at 155kW so we can rightly expect this new model to easily surpass that figure on its way to the 160kW-plus.
