Suzuki Swift Updated for 2014

2014 Suzuki Swift

The lovable Suzuki Swift has been given a refresh for 2014, with enhancements to the styling and improvements to the standard specification.

Distinguishing the latest Swift is a revised grille and front bumper, which now incorporates day-time running lights on the GLS. The car’s tail remains untouched, apart from the third brake light that is now a brighter LED unit. The Swift also sports new wheel and wheel cap designs, together with a new choice of ‘Luminous Blue Metallic’ paint.

Inside, the technical specifications have grown to include Bluetooth phone connectivity with streaming audio and cruise control. A redesigned fabric for the seats is “more contemporary” say Suzuki, while rear items retain their practical 60:40 split folding capability. The ‘false floor’ of the boot adds a little extra peace-of-mind in terms of security, while the convenience hooks ensure that one’s shopping bags are secure too.

The choice of engines and transmissions remain unchanged for 2014 Suzuki Swift. Powered by a fuel-injected 1.4-litre petrol engine, the Swift has 70 kW and 130 Nm of torque available to get it from A to B. Average fuel consumption is a claimed 5.5 l/100km for the 5-speed manual transmission models, or 6.2 l/100km for the GLS Automatic model.

Apart from the many standard features, including keyless access and engine operation; multi-function trip computer; USB connectivity; and climate control, the Swift also offers dual front airbags and ABS anti-lock brakes.

The nippy Swift Sport remains unchanged from when we drove it in 2012, but it does benefit from the addition of cruise control and Bluetooth functionality in line with the rest of the range.
