The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be available with a new ‘Performance Data Recorder’ (PDR) that will allow owners to record and view their performance data with video, audio, GPS and various telemetry metrics.
The system was developed by the Brits at Cosworth and comprises of a 720p HD video camera and microphone, built into the windscreen header trim to capture the drivers point-of-view. The data portion of the system consists of a GPS and on-board computer that records engine speed, gear selection, braking force and steering wheel angle. The PDR system saves all its data onto a removable SD card located in the glove box.
The PDR should prove useful for those Stingray owners who attend track days, allowing them to review their driving habits and make improvements or experiment with alternative styles of driving or tactics.
