The Volkswagen Golf R400 design study was presented at the Beijing Auto Show last month and we suspect there’s a good chance the most powerful Volkswagen Golf ever conceived could make it to production, whilst also previewing the sort of performance data that could come from the next generation of Audi RS3.
The headline figures include 294 kW at 7 200 r/min and 450 Nm of torque between 2 000 and 6 000 r/min. The 0 – 100 km/h sprint takes a claimed 3.9 seconds, while top speed is limited to 280 km/h. Compared to the mighty Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, the R400 concept offers 29 kw more and produces its torque across a 1 250 r/min wider rev range.
