Porsche are licking their wounds in the most dignified manner following their ‘Did Not Finish’ (DNF) at the 2014 24-Hours of Le Mans. The Porsche 919 Hybrids retired in the final few hours of the gruelling event with drivetrain and transmission problems.
Having taken place on French soil it seems apt to paraphrase the immortal words of former French president Charles de Gaulle, ‘Porsche has lost a battle, but Porsche has not lost the war.’ In fact, despite their DNF and an absence of 16 years prior to the 2014 Le Mans race, Porsche still remains the most successful manufacturer at Le Mans with 16 titles.
