Video: Nissan GT-R Isn’t Idiot Proof

Nissan R35 GT-R

The Nissan GT-R might be equipped with one of the most advanced all-wheel drive systems on the planet, but there’s only so much incompetence it can mask.

The R35 GTR’s ATTESA E-TS (Electronic Torque Split) system is currently the only rear transaxle-based all-wheel drive system for a front engined car. It uses two driveshafts, with one running slightly to the right of the main driveshaft and engine that sends power exclusively to the front wheels through an open differential. From here it only gets more complicated, as the ATTESA system has its own computer control unit that operates an electronic differential, active limited-slip differential, centre-differential, ABS system, 3-way G-force sensor and more. So, like we said, despite having the best technology on offer from Nissan, there’s always someone able to ‘out smart’ it.
