The next-generation BMW 5-Series is only a few weeks old and it already has its own range of M-Performance goodies! The additional pieces of kit will aim to cater to the discerning aesthetic, mechanical and performance demands of future customers.
One of the most impressive add-ons is the Power and Sound Kit, packing power and torque gains of just under 25kW and 51Nm respectively. The kit will be exclusively available to models housing the six-cylinder petrol engine and, according to BMW, will not affect fuel consumption or carbon emissions. Performance upgrades will also be available to take the diesel variant of the new luxury sedan to the next level, with boosts of 20kW and 30Nm pushing the performance figures up to a total of 212kW of power and 650Nm of torque.
Owners of the 530i, 540i, their xDrive variants, as well as their diesel variants will be able to modify the grunts of their M-Performance exhausts to their liking. Exhausts are available in stainless steel or carbon fibre finishes, depending on the engine.
Other items in the M-Performance range will be made available to all versions of the 5 Series, including a bespoke set of 20” twin-spoke design alloy wheels finished in either silver and black or full grey, complemented with a side order of M-Performance brakes and fiery red callipers.
Aesthetic upgrades are plentiful on the new 5-Series, from carbon fibre mirror caps to a gloss-black grille sporting the signature M-Performance colour stripes. There is also an aerodynamic exterior styling kit for M-Sport models. Not much is known about the interior options, aside from an M-Performance Alcantara steering wheel.
BMW is yet to release further details regarding pricing and release dates, although South Africa can expect them to arrive in Quarter 3 of 2017.
