At the Geneva Motor Show 2012 in March, BMW M will unveil a new product range named ‘M Performance Automobiles’, for drivers seeking a particularly sporty driving experience, yet who also value the familiar comfort and practicality of BMW models. M Performance Automobiles will sit between regular BMW models and the thoroughbred M models – possibly something in the likes of Audi’s S lineup.
The BMW M Performance Automobiles will offer exclusive engine variants, enhanced agility and precision on the road, plus different design details, according to the German car brand. The car maker mentioned plans for further additions to the new product line-up, referring to a range including a wide variety of model series, as well as both petrol and diesel-engined variants. The all-wheel-drive system, BMW xDrive, would also play a role in the new series.
The models in the new product category follow in the tyre tracks of the BMW M535i, which was unveiled in 1980. At the time, it was a fresh addition to the BMW 5 Series ranks. BMW aims to continue this tradition with the BMW M Performance Automobiles.
