The struggle to create the fastest production car will probably last forever. Since Bugatti presented it’s Supersport, and big competitor SSC showed it’s Ultimate Aero TT, we are seeing a new level of top speed figures being chased.
Rumour has it that the next Bugatti Veyron will be even faster, out pacing the Veyron Supersport’s record of 427 km/h. Power for the new Veyron would have to top at least 883 kW (1 200 bhp) to make a 432 km/h (270 mph) target speed possible, and we’d expect all-wheel drive, a dual-clutch gearbox, and turbocharging to remain on the program as well.
What might the next Veyron look like is unsure, but we don’t expect to see major design changes. The first concept should be ready by early 2013 with official presentation later the same year.
