The distinctively-styled Juke takes pride of place on the Nissan stand at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show.
Said to combine the functionality offered by a CUV, with the style and comfort of a luxury Coupé, the Nissan have heralded the Juke as a new breed of crossover. It’s a story similar to that of when Nissan launched their Murano years back, claiming it as the first SUV with the heart of a sports car.
Within its first five months of international sales, the Juke has snapped up a number of awards, as well as a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It’s powered by the same 1.6-litre engine found in the Nissan Qashqai, which means 85 kW and 154 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual.
Despite its height, the Juke isn’t much longer than a Polo or Fiesta, which means the interior will take four adults, with a moderate amount of luggage space in the boot.
We’ll have to wait for the official launch within the coming months, before we can get our hands on one and let you know whether Nissan’s claims of a sporty crossover are accurate.
