With the success of the gorgeous looking 8C Competizione, we half expected Alfa Romeo to capitalise on its success and chase more sales with derivatives of the 8C. Well, after several spyshots, we can tell you that Alfa Romeo will present a GTA version of it’s sportscar shortly. The abbriviation GTA stands for “Gran Turismo Allegerito”, which means as much as “lightened” in English.
The GTA will loose up to 150 kg and will get around 373 kW under the hood. Power is derived from the retuned 4,7-litre V8 that is currently doing duty in the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The lightweight and increased power mean the 8C GTA should sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in under 4 seconds and achieve a top speed of close to 320 km/h.
The 8C GTA, which will be limited to only 100 units, will be available in early 2011. Prices are expected to start at around the €200 000 mark. Take a look at the gallery below for some very appealing renderings of what the 8C GTA is expected to look like – we especially like the 599 GTO inspired one above.
