Another Step In The Renault Sandero Range

Set to launch in November, the Renault Sandero Stepway will become the flagship model of Renault South Africa’s Sandero line-up. As the only cross-over model in the AB entry level segment, Renault is confident that the new Sandero Stepway will prove a serious contender in this highly contested passenger car segment.

As with the rest of the Sandero range, Stepway boasts best-in-class interior space combined with value for money. The Stepway rides 20 mm higher than current Sandero models and features a number of styling cues that set it apart from its peers. These include satin and chrome trim, front fog lights and black tinted headlamps – all of which combine to give the Stepway a more rugged but stylish look.

Like its Renault Sandero siblings, Stepway will be manufactured at Alliance partner Nissan South Africa’s Rosslyn production plant. Production of the new model begins later in the year, after an additional R6 million was poured into extra tooling on the chassis line, as well as upgrades in the body shop and trim departments.

The Rosslyn plant received a R1 billion injection in 2007 in preparation for the Sandero’s production, which began in January 2009. Within 17 months, Sandero has become a top seller and Renault is confident that its introduction of Stepway will further boost its growth in South Africa.

The locally manufactured Sandero Stepway is due to go on sale in South Africa in November 2010.
