All Systems Go for Jaguar XJR In New York

Jaguar-XJR

After a long hiatus, Jaguar is returning the illustrious XJR nameplate to the world scene when the British marque unveils its flagship high-performance luxury sedan at the New York Motor Show next week. There are very few details we can actually share with you, aside from this single image courtesy of Jaguar.

And the news that the XJR will be propelled by the same 405 kW and 680 Nm, supercharged 5.0-litre V8 used by the XKR-S sports car and that it benefits from bespoke suspension and aerodynamic developments over a conventional Jaguar XJ. The XJ SuperSport also makes do with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8, but it isn’t as powerful as the abovementioned.

The Jaguar XJR has traditionally always been an intimidating, sinister, car and this model appears to be no different with the addition of a black mesh grille, lower central air intake, a lowered ride height, enlarged wheels, ventilated bonnet and red brake calipers. Performance of the XJR is unknown but we expect the 100 km/h sprint to be done around the 4.5 seconds, thanks to the XJ’s supple, lightweight aluminium chassis and a top speed on the high side of 300 km/h.
