Radical Sportscars has announced the new SR3 SL, which the specialty marque claims is a “trackday and road-focused roadster”. The SR3 SL will make its public debut at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, UK on 13 January 2011.
The SR3 SL is a track-going racer that comes close to a Le Mans experience but one that is also road-legal in EU countries and is Euro 5 compliant.
Powering the racer is a 2.0-litre direct-injection, turbocharged EcoBoost engine producing 224 kW from Ford RPE (Radical Performance Engines). The SR3 SL is equipped with a 6-speed sequential gearbox with Fomula One-like paddleshifters on the steering wheel.
The SR3 SL weighs in at just 675 kg and features full under-body aerodynamics.
Radical will also offer a Race Pack options package on the SR3 SL which includes an engine calibration selection for various conditions – ‘road’, ‘wet’ and ‘racetrack’, an FIA-qualified fuel cell, a bi-plane rear wing and racing tyre options.
