In Frankfurt later this month, Audi will show up to the show with the new Audi A8 Hybrid, which will enter production in 2012.
The 2012 Audi A8 Hybrid will be powered by a pretty efficient parallel hybrid system, which includes a 2.0 litre TFSI 4-cylinder turbo engine making 155 kW and 350 Nm of torque and an electric-motor making 40 kW and 210 Nm of torque. Together, the system outputs 180 kW with a maximum torque of 465 Nm. Mated to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, the A8 Hybrid goes from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 233 km/h.
What about the fuel-efficiency? Audi says that the A8 Hybrid can travel at speeds of up to 100 km/h on electric power alone, and cover around 3 kilometers with zero local emissions at a constant speed of 60 km/h. Fuel-consumption comes in under 6.4 L/100km.
