Land Rover has expanded on its unlikely relationship with British fashion designer and football/soccer wife Victoria Beckham at the Beijing Motor Show, with a special edition Range Rover Evoque.
Created in collaboration with Land Rover Design, led by Gerry McGovern, and Victoria Beckham, the ‘Range Rover Evoque Special Edition with Victoria Beckham’ – yes, that’s its official title – is based on the three-door Evoque and is easily recognisable by its hand-finished matte grey paint, with contrasting gloss black finishes on the roof, side, bonnet vents, wheel arches and 20-inch alloy wheels. Rose-gold accents have been applied to the wheels, ‘Evoque’ badging and grille surround.
Inside there are four sport design seats finished in a semi-aniline Vintage Tan leather – with a hand-finished ‘baseball’ stitch detail, chosen by Victoria as a tongue-in-cheek reference to her sporting husband David Beckham. The same leather is also used to cover the door inserts, armrests and central storage box lid. There is a soft feel black finish on the switchgear, a piano black center console, dark textured machined aluminum, mohair mats and micro-suede headlining. As with the exterior, rose-gold accents have been added on the center console rotary controls and gear selector.
The Evoque Special Edition with Victoria Beckham will be powered by the same 177 kW, 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine used in other Evoques. Four-wheel-drive with Land Rover’s Terrain Response traction control system is standard. Just 200 ‘Beckhamed’ Evoques are to be produced at the Halewood manufacturing facility in Liverpool and hand-finished by Land Rover’s “Engineered To Order” division (ETO).

I am crazy about the Evoque. Usually when I read something about Victoria Beckham I was grinch, but I must say I think her influeance on this Speical Edition is very well put together. Apparently she knows something about blinging-up a car as well.
