Five years since entering the local market, GWM continues on its path in providing practical and affordable vehicles, with the latest examples being the Steed 5 2.2-litre Single and Double Cabs.
The facelifted, rear-wheel drive Steed 5 2.2 Single and Double Cabs have been given a newly designed grille that brings these pick-ups in line with the rest of the Steed 5 range and are now also equipped with air-conditioning.

The Steed 5 2.2 Single and Double Cabs are powered by GWM’s 4-cylinder, fuel-injected, 2.2-litre petrol engine. The engine remains unchanged and produces 78 kW at 4 600 r/min and maximum torque of 190 Nm between 2 400 and 2 800 r/min. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Priced from R124 990 for the single cab and R149 990 for the double cab, the new Steed 5 models will appeal to budget-conscious companies and individuals who are looking to enter the bakkie market at a fraction of the cost of the bigger names. All models in the Steed 5 Series come standard with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty and 2-year/24-hour roadside assistance. The GWM dealership network now consists of 71 outlets throughout the country.
