Top Gear Test Track – All The Stats You Need

We came across this excellent infographic for the Top Gear test track created by Boost Labs. As we all know, Top Gear data is usually the foundation for every car argument that starts in the pub or around the braai, but the challenge is remembering the all-important lap time for every car. The need to settle any argument quickly, prompted the boffins at Boost Labs to come up with the cool graphs and charts that you see below (click on each image for a full-size version).

Divided into three sections, the first is the Top Gear ‘Selector Wheel’, which shows the lap times of the fastest cars over the past 18 seasons, the weather conditions under which the lap was completed and how long each car held the record for. Below the wheel is a list showing the lap times of 185 cars, as well as the season and episode in which they completed their lap.

The second section shows the ‘Top 10 Most Affordable’ cars tested on the track – out of the fastest 50. Apart from price, you’ll find the car’s average speed around the course, it’s power, weight and more. There’s also a map of the track with the name of each corner and a short intro on the famous Stig.

The final section rounds up the best cars in 10 different categories, ranging from the lightest car to the longest lap record holder.

We think it’s a great summary of the TG lap board over time and Boost Labs are reportedly working on an interactive version too, so we’ll update this story once it’s been released.
