Porsche Cayenne S Diesel Revealed

Porsche Cayenne S Diesel

The new Porsche Cayenne S Diesel has been revealed ahead of its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

The German SUV borrows the 4.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8 oil burner from its Audi Q7 stablemate, to offer 281 kW and 850 Nm of torque. Performance figures are 0 – 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 252 km/h. In comparison the petrol-powered 4.8-litre V8 Cayenne, the S Diesel is just 13 kW down on peak power, yet 350 Nm up on torque and in terms of performance, the diesel is actually faster to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds.

Currently the only V8 diesel SUV to offer engine stop/start technology, the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel also returns a combined fuel consumption of 8.2 L/100km and emissions of 218 g/km CO2. Porsche say that based on this average consumption figure, the Cayenne’s 100-litre fuel tank can carry it a theoretical 1 200 km before having to refuel.

The ‘S’ trim distinguishes the Cayenne S Diesel from the standard Cayenne, with silver brake calipers and black front intake grilles.

The Porsche Cayenne S Diesel is scheduled to launch in Europe in January 2013, with prices starting at €77 684 in Germany, around 25 percent more than the Cayenne Diesel.
