With Barack Obama elected for a second term in the White House, there appears to be no better motivation for Mexicans to illegally cross the border into the United States. As a group of ambitious, fairly well prepared, but not particularly 4×4 savvy, illegal border crossers proved earlier this week. They attempted to cross the U.S. border using a Jeep Cherokee and two makeshift ramps on either side of the 14-foot fence at California’s Imperial Sand Dunes.
The Jeep made it across the sand dunes, but the plan hit a snag when the Jeep Cherokee became stuck on the metal ramps they’d constructed. It seems they forgot to account for the Cherokee’s ramp over angle!
A Border Patrol spokesman said that the Jeep Cherokee was spotted dangling over the fence just after midnight and that U.S. agents saw two men on the Mexican side of the border trying to free the SUV before fleeing back to Mexico.
