ABT Volkswagen Golf GTI Last Edition

With the launch of the Volkswagen Golf 7 due in South Africa in January 2013 and the GTI version having already been shown in ‘concept’ form, ABT Sportsline have seen it fit to produce a farewell tuning package for the Golf 6 GTI.

Dubbed the ‘ABT Volkswagen Golf GTI Last Edition’, the German tuner is offering a two-stage tuning program for the popular hot-hatch. The stage-one option sees power boosted from the standard 155 kW to 191 kW, thanks to some fiddling with the ECU. Stage-two adds a larger turbocharger that hikes power to 228 kW. No performance figures have been released, but we’d expect a 0 – 100 km/h sprint of around 6 seconds.

To harness the extra performance, ABT have lowered the GTI by 25 mm and bolted on larger set of 345 mm front brake discs. An aerodynamics package has also been added, which includes LED daytime running lights, rear diffuser, side skirts, roof spoiler and a quad exhaust system.

The car is coated in a ‘carbon steel’ grey metallic paint, with splashes of red on the mirrors, splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and diffuser, as well as within the alloy wheels. The design continues inside, with the various instrument surrounds, door trim and steering wheel panels painted in matching red.
