Lexus GS F first reveal

These early pictures of the Lexus GS F prior to the Detroit Motor Show demonstrate how seriously Lexus is going on the performance offence. This after the smaller, BMW M4 rival, RC-F was confirmed for early 2015 production.

lexus-xdn4d8-gsf-3nd-2 Safe to say the Lexus GS F will be an alternative to BMW M5 ilk and it does so by sticking with the 5.0-litre V8 normally aspirated engine which has become a mainstay for Lexus’s performance division. This motor has been around since the IS F days (circa 2010) but as you’d expect they’ve found ways to increase its potency to 348kW and 527Nm. These figures still see the Lexus GS F near the bottom of the power stakes, specifically when comparing torque and peak delivery points. However it’s a smidge lighter than the others – a weight saving that the RC-F probably could have done with. For now it’s too early to estimate performance but 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and a limited speed of 250km/h have been voiced, and seem entirely reasonable.

Other performance helpers include stiffened suspension, wider 275/35/R19 tyres and Lexus’s Torque Vectoring Differential which can be set in three modes: no burnout, almost burnout and…still no burnout. That’s because Lexus are known for their computer interference – prove us wrong guys.

Other models in the volley court besides the Lexus GS F include a possible four-door version of the RC-F and the return of the IS-F loosely earmarked for 2016 introduction.
