Volvo S60 Cross Country

Volvo won’t be outdone at the Detroit Motor Show as they prepare to unveil the Volvo S60 Cross Country. And why not, the Swedish company was the first to introduce all-road variants of their current wagons – although the Volvo S60 Cross Country is undoubtedly their most luxurious off-road model to date.

“We want to further explore the market with our Cross Country brand. We did this back in 1997 with the Volvo V70 Cross Country and it led to the birth of a whole new segment. We have included all the capability-driven benefits of the Cross Country brand in this new model, while offering a completely unique expression of adventure and all-road readiness in a distinctly sporty and stylish package,” says Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Product Strategy and Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Cars.

How does the Volvo S60 Cross Country differ? A further 65mm of clearance and AWD, although some markets will get an additional FWD version which is usually the less popular but often better buy. Turning those bigger and higher profiled tyres will be a litany of powertrains from the 140kW D4 diesel to the 187kW T5 petrol.

Bad news? No confirmation for local entry at this stage but that surely will change.
