At the launch of the Honda Mobilio six months ago, only two derivatives were available – both of them manual. In a car with seating for seven, Honda have since realised that there will be many occasions where Mom will need to stop James from pulling Suzy’s hair and warn Timme that if the ice cream ends up on the seats that there won’t be any TV time. That’s why the convenience of Honda Mobilio CVT makes a lot of sense.
More so since the 1.5-litre Honda Mobilio CVT shares the same drivetrain with the 88kW/145Nm Honda Jazz. No say in the gears comes at a price; the slower CVT-equipped Mobilio hums from 0- 100km/h in 11.3-seconds, some 0.5s slower than the manual’s acceleration time of 10.8 seconds. Top speed is the same, but rather listless, 140 km/h. At just 6.0l/100km for the combined cycle, the Honda Mobilio CVT version is also the most economical member of the Mobilio line-up, although by the smallest amount.
“The CVT model adds a further string to the Mobilio’s bow, and should add further momentum to the demand for this attractive, modern and versatile seven-seater,” says Graham Eagle, operations director at Honda Motor Southern Africa. “It brings further convenience, even greater efficiency and real ease of use to the Mobilio line-up.”
