Alfa Romeo is one step closer to making their big comeback into the South African performance market after the successful launch of the highly-anticipated Giulia.
The exclusive launch, hosted at the Inanda Club in Sandton, reiterates the significance placed upon the first vehicles and their buyers, specifically the confirmed buyers of the new Giulia ‘Launch’ and ‘Race’ Editions, both expected to arrive on local shores in the first quarter of 2017. Customers wasted no time in getting their hands on the new super-sedan with Alfa Romeo claiming that the first 46 orders were already spoken for after the third day of order books opening.

Alfa Romeo Giulia coming to South Africa early 2017
Marco Melani, CEO of FCA South Africa, provided guests with an informative presentation prior to the glamorous red carpet live reveal of the cars. The red and silver decor along with a display of three vintage Alfa Romeo cars supplemented the sporty ambience of the launch event, while Italian inspired food, live entertainment and the growl of the Giulia’s exhaust ensured an exciting night for all.
The limited-production ‘Launch’ and ‘Race’ Edition models are based on the big daddy Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde (for the non-Alfa petrolheads, this is the C63 AMG of the C-Class), with the Ferrari developed 2.9-litre Bi-Turbocharged V6 producing 375kW of wholesome Italian power and 600Nm of tar-ripping torque through the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. This results in a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds and a limited top speed of 307 km/h.
Carbon ceramic brakes as well as the exclusive Tri-coat paint colours, Mineral White or Red Competition, distinguish the ‘Race’ Edition Giulia from the Giulia QV. Completing the Giulia range is the Giulia 2.0-litre, available in three derivatives; Base, Super, and Super Lux. The entry-level variants will house a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 147kW of power and 330 Nm of torque driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The full model line-up is expected locally from early March 2017.
