Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series By Väth

Posted on 05 June 2012 by SACarFan

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is already a monster machine, packing 380 kW and 620 Nm of torque from its factory tuned 6.2-litre V8 engine. It’s understandably fast too, with the 0 – 100 km/h sprint over in 4.2 seconds, but German tuner Väth have gone nuts and created the V63 Supercharged.

The Väth V63 Supercharged tuning package adds – surprise, surprise – a supercharger system with air-to-water intercooler, re-calibrated engine electronics, stainless-steel exhaust manifold, sport catalytic converter and rear silencer without tailpipes but with flap control. The changes amount to a monumental power figure of 556 kW and 800 Nm of torque. The already quick 0 – 100 km/h sprint time now drops to 3.8 seconds and without an electronic limiter, the V63 Supercharged will reach 350 km/h.

The tuning package costs €38 500, about the same price as Mercedes C220 CDI in Germany, but if you spend a little more, you can have new suspension fitted too. The complete Väth suspension updates include: lower suspension by between 20 mm to 65 mm; stiffer springs and adjustable shock absorbers; a more powerful braking system with 405 mm discs; 20-inch wheels wrapped in 255/30 ZR20 tyres on the front and 295/25 ZR20 tyres on the rear axle. Other options include a blacked out grille without the Mercedes-Benz star, a sport steering wheel in leather with carbon or wood trim, and a speedometer marked to 400 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe By Vath

Posted on 23 December 2011 by SACarFan

German tuner Väth has released their latest program based on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, the V63 Supercharged. The program includes an upgrade in power, exterior looks and interior refinements.

The V63 Supercharged is the name of a tuning kit, which includes the fine-tuning of engine electronics as well as a compressor system with VÄTH water intercooling system. The oil in the engine and the gearbox is protected by a special cooling system against possible overheating. The total power is lifted to 507 kW and 840 Nm of torque. An acceleration from 0 – 100 km/h takes only four seconds and the tuned AMG reaches a top speed of 335 km/h.

The Germans also installed a high-performance brake system with 380 mm discs, a new exhaust system, a stainless steel manifold, a carbon front spoiler and a carbon fibre rear diffuser with enlarged fins. Väth also developed a carbon fender for the rear axle, which allows widening the track by 80 mm. The boot is decorated with an additional lip.

The V63 rides on three-spike 20-inch VÄTH forged rims with 255/30 profile tyres in front and 295/25 profile rubber at the rear. An adjustable coilover suspension is also available allowing a range of adjustment in spring rate and ride (20mm – 65 mm lower).

An optional sports steering wheel is covered in leather and can also be specified with wood or carbon inserts. The speedometer extension to 360 km/h is another VÄTH Supercharged option.

Spied: Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé Black Series Aero Pack

Posted on 25 August 2011 by SACarFan

Mercedes-Benz has been spotted testing a new aerodynamics package for the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupé Black Series. The pack appears to include a range of more aggressive carbon fibre spoilers and side skirts on top of the normal, and already pumped, Black Series Coupé.

Since the C63 AMG Coupé Black Series is already one of the most extreme models in the company’s current lineup, what better way to really cement that fact by launching a full race aero kit. The Black Series has received a carbon fibre front chin spoiler and splitter system to help push air over the C63 Coupé, as well as carbon fibre front winglets and side skirts for added downforce. The rear also includes a new, more serious, rear diffuser system with a large boot-mounted carbon fibre wing. Additional carbon fibre is also used on the side mirror casings and various carbon trimming pieces added to the interior, all in an effort to save weight.

Previous reports have stated this aerodynamics package will also include a set of matt black 19-inch alloy wheels, with 255/35 profile rubber in front and 285/30 profile rubber out back, a fire extinguisher, improved cooling for the active rear-axle transmission and a radiator located in the rear apron that allows the airflow to pass through it effectively.

The engine remains unchanged, but the 6.3-litre V8 is hardly lacking with 380 kW and peak torque of 620 Nm, allowing the vehicle a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 4.2 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupé Black Series is set to hit international showrooms in January next year. This aero kit will likely become available as an optional extra.

Spied: Audi RS4 Avant At The Nürburgring

Posted on 01 April 2011 by SACarFan

New spyshots have revealed a new Audi, which for all intents and purposes, screams RS4. While it is not the final design, the RS goodies under the body shell are visible, like the bigger brakes and wider track. The front bumper will be more aggressive with large air intakes and the fenders will be wider just like the RS5.

It’s not clear if the new RS4 will have the same V8 engine found in the RS5, but despite the trend toward eco-friendly downsizing it’s unlikely that the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 found in the S4 could be boosted to the levels required to compete with the Mercedes C63 AMG and BMW M3. The 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 found in the RS5 will endow the RS4 with 331 kW and 430 N.m. of torque, which should easily launch the car from 0 – 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. Following Audi’s latest trend with its faster models, expect to have the option of raising the electronic speed limiter from 250 km/h to 280 km/h, which flies in the face of the gentleman’s agreement between Germany’s ‘Big Three’.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Performance Package Plus

Posted on 03 November 2009 by Scott Hayes

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Performance Package Plus

As if the standard Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG isn’t appealing enough, the German car maker has released what they call a new ‘Performance Package Plus’ for the popular sports sedan. The new package delivers not only just a bump in power output but also upgraded brakes, a carbon fibre spoiler lip and an upgraded steering wheel.

First of all, the numbers: the Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW to 358 kW – just 19 kW shy of the C-Class DTM vehicles which deliver 377 kW – and reduces the 0-100 km/h sprint time by 0.1 second to 4.4 seconds. Perhaps a better indication of the power increase would be the reduction in the 0-200 km/h time – now in just 13.9 seconds compared to 15.2 seconds. The top speed remains electronically limited at 250 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Performance Package Plus

The Performance Package Plus is available for both the saloon and estate models and also includes an AMG high-performance braking system, featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fibre spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

No word yet from Mercedes-Benz South Africa on the availability of the Performance Package Plus.

Press Release

Performance Package Plus: enhanced performance for successful AMG model: C 63 AMG with a shot of SLS

Affalterbach – Enhanced driving dynamics ex factory for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG: the new Performance Package Plus is an attractive optional extra that is designed to appeal to the power-hungry sports driver. The Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW/30 hp to 358 kW/487 hp. As a result, the C-Class approaches the level of performance offered by C-Class DTM vehicles, which deliver 377 kW/500 hp. The Performance Package Plus is available for the saloon and estate models and includes an AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fibre spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

With the Performance Package Plus, the C 63 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13.9 seconds. This beats the 336 kW/457 hp standard model by up to 1.2 seconds (0–100 km/h: 4.5 seconds; 0–200 km/h: 15.2 seconds). The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The improvement in power output to 358 kW/487 hp is due to the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine’s modified engine compartment: the forged pistons adopted from the new SLS AMG super sports car together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft translate into a weight saving of three kilograms. Reduced inertia boosts the agility and responsiveness of the uprated V8 engine, which is recognisable from the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey. New engine management completes the powertrain measures in the Performance Package Plus for the C 63 AMG.

AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology

The Performance Package Plus braking system has been adapted to the enhanced driving dynamics. A new AMG high-performance braking system ensures greater stability when driving dynamically, with compound brake discs on the front axle and red painted brake callipers all round showing the AMG logo. The brake discs feature a composite design and are connected to an aluminium bowl to avoid temperature peaks. The connection between the disc and bowl is new: instead of the usual screw connection, the aluminium bowl is now connected to the brake disc via cast-in arms. The advantage is more homogenous temperature distribution on the brake disc.

A further identifying feature of the Performance Package Plus is the AMG carbon fibre spoiler lip on the boot lid (saloon). In the interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather with a grip area trimmed in Alcantara feels good, while at the same time making a striking visual impact.

The new AMG Performance Package Plus is available for C 63 AMG saloon and estate models and can be ordered now. The sales price is €7080.50 or €6426 (saloon/estate; prices include 19% VAT) with the market launch taking place in December 2009.

Extended appointments in black designo leather

New black designo leather as an optional extra will enhance the interior even further and covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console. This high-quality feature is available in conjunction with nappa leather appointments for €2856 (price includes 19% VAT).

The internationally successful C 63 AMG model

The C 63 AMG is one of the most popular vehicles in the Mercedes-AMG model range. In 2008, 8100 units of this high-performance car were sold worldwide. The C 63 AMG demonstrates its sports credentials in international motorsport as well as on the road. For example, the C 63 AMG estate is used as the official F1™ medical car and the C 63 AMG saloon acts as a safety car in the DTM German Touring Car Masters.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG ‘Edition 63′

Posted on 14 August 2009 by Scott Hayes

www.SACarFan.co.za - Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG - Edition 63

Presumeably in response to BMW’s M3 ‘Edition’ models announced in June, Mercedes-Benz has responded with a limited edition C63 AMG model on sale in Australia. Mercedes say the C63 AMG ‘Edition 63′, of which only – you guessed it – 63 will be available, has been built specifically for the Australian market.

Featuring all the standard goodies including the fire-breathing 336 kW AMG-built, 6.2-litre V8-engine from the standard model, the Edition 63 gets exclusive DTM-style, 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a high-sheen finish, three ‘designo’ paint colours – Platinum Black; Mystic White; or Allanite Grey – and a choice of two unique upholstery colours in soft designo leather – sand or classic red.

You’ll also find illuminated door sills with blue lighting adorning the entry to the front seats.

Worthy of special mention is designo magno Allanite Grey paint job. This special colour is a matte finish, creating a tougher appearance and a unique-to-its segment paint type, for what is certainly one of the world’s stealthiest sports cars.

Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG “Edition 63″ is AUS$169 900 for the sedan and AUS$172 900 for the estate.
