The last we heard of the Alfa Romeo 4C sports coupe, was when it received a few styling tweaks for last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Thankfully, however, its been confirmed (unofficially at this stage) that the new model will be built by Maserati in Modena, Italy alongside the Quattroporte and GranTurismo starting in May 2013.
The lightweight, 850 kilogram, 4C is fitted with Alfa Romeo’s 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering at least 147 kW and mounted behind the driver. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through the “Alfa TCT” twin dry clutch transmission. The two seater is expected to reach a top speed in excess of 250 km/h and have a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of less than 5.0 seconds.
Maserati expects to produce around 2500 4C sports coupes annually, which should retail for around the €50 000 in Europe.
