Chevrolet Previews SEMA Concepts

Following a tasty line-up of Ford Focus STs that have been shown ahead of the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Chevrolet have now released details of the car’s that’ll be headlining their stand.

Starting with the little Chevrolet Spark, the company will show off a number of concepts, which include the Z-Spec, Sinister, Colour Run and Pink Out. Chevrolet has fitted these concepts with everything from lowered suspension, body kits, 18-inch alloy wheels, to unique paint schemes and redesigned interiors.

The Chevrolet Sonic will also be on display in both hatch and sedan body styles.

The Chevrolet Cruze Upscale concept has been lowered using an adjustable coilover suspension, features 19-inch wheels, a new high-performance brake system, as well as an aerodynamics package. There;’s no word on whether the engine has been boosted to warrant the aforementioned performance enhancements, but it looks good if nothing else. The exterior ‘Burnished Brandy’ metallic paintwork, is matched with the ‘Loft Brown’ leather of the interior, which also features yellow stitching and various bits of dark ‘liquid palladium’ trim.

Stepping up from the Cruze is the larger Malibu Turbo Performance concept and, unlike the Spark and maybe the Cruze, isn’t simply a cosmetic exercise. With 1.3 bar of boost pressue, the Malibu Turbo Performance Concept pushes out cranks out 190 kW from its 2.0-litre engine. The extra power gives the Malibu a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 248 km/h. Other mechanical upgrades include the Opel-borrowed HiPer Strut front suspension, a set of high-performance brakes and a cold air intake. In addition to the performance modifications, the Malibu Turbo Concept features a ‘Berlin Blue’ paint, a mesh grille, aerodynamics pack and 20-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The interior has been fitted with two-tone Recaro sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and dark black chrome trim.

The powerhouse of the bunch is a bright red Chevrolet Impala. Little is known about the car at this stage other than it’ll ride on 20-inch alloy wheels and feature a black leather interior with ‘black ice’ tinted chrome accents. We’ll have to wait and see whether its standard 226 kW 3.6-litre V6 has been given some extra attention.

The 2012 SEMA show runs between October 30th and November 2nd.
