Now in SA: Ford Focus EcoBoost with Powershift

Another day, another Ford. Or should we say another derivative flourish within the model range. This time around the Ford Focus range has been expanded for 2016 to include four new 1.0 EcoBoost Powershift models.

The Powershift and EcoBoost combination is available on hatch and sedan models in both Ambiente and Trend trim levels and priced towards the lower end of the range, seemingly offering the best value.

Hard to keep track of we know, the Ford Focus range is now up to 14 models priced from R228 900 to R443 900.

“With the expanded line-up we combined the remarkable performance and fuel economy of the 1.0 EcoBoost engine with the outstanding responsiveness and driving dynamics of the high-tech dual-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.”

The 92kW 170Nm EcoBoost has a claimed fuel figure of 5.5l/100km with 125g/km and other fuel saving measures includes Start/Stop and active grille shutters which reduce drag. With the six-speed Powershift gearbox, power should be ample for the majority of city driving and long distance travel this car is likely to encounter.

So what’s different between Ambiente and Trend? The Ambiente still offers central locking, electric windows, dual airbags, Bluetooth and USB slots while Trend models can be identified by sportier 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, curtain airbags and cruise control.

Helpful hint, add the well-priced styling pack which includes 17-inch wheels, privacy glass, Xenon lights, rear spoiler and dual zone climate control.
