New Suzuki Swift to consider 1.0-litre turbo
An interior that’s not up the standard of Mazda 2 and anodyne engines compared to Opel’s EcoFlex will be up for renewal when the new Suzuki Swift arrives in 2017. The first renderings of what the new car might look like have spilled onto the internet.
We might be looking at the Swift Sport model here but a new grille is now dominates the frontal area, not unlike the Mazda 2’s and is structured around new headlights and larger airvents around the foglights. Swift retains the floating roofline above darkened C-pillars At the back the twin pipes and roof spoiler further our suspicions that this is the Swift’s flagship model.
Too early to say which engines will power the local variant but Suzuki South Africa will no doubt try hard to bring the 1.0-litre turbo along with the existing 1.4-litre engine. Hard to say which of the two engines will be the sportier – up at altitude we’d like our Swift Sport with the turbo charged engine.
Suzuki is trying to have a production unit ready by the end of 2016 and we’ll bring you those details on what has always been a beloved pet around the SA Car Fan offices.
