BMW’s centenary celebrated at Goodwood Festival

Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power. That’s the theme for the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed which pays tribute to cars, bikes, motorsport… and those famous personalities behind them. Dates for the event are out so best you plan a trip to West Sussex between the 23rd and 26th of June for what we regard as the benchmark for all motoring festivals.

The 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed will celebrate BMW’s centenary and the occasion will provide the impetus to several influential models out of hiding. The first taste of BMW’s presence at the festival is a statue that combines the MW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster, the Brabham-BMW BT52, and the Le Mans-winning BMW V12 LMR. We’re sure BMW’s Vision Next will be left as a surprise.

Confirmed to race up the hill is a BMW 507, a 1940 328 Touring Coupe and a 1965 BMW 1800 TiSA Touring Car. BMW’s M4 GTS will make its UK debut.

Goodwood’s Revival Tribute dinner will be held in honour of Sir Jack Brabham. Brabham won the F1 World Championship fifty years ago in his own car and is still the only person to have accomplished this. Other notable anniversaries tied in with the event include the 50th Anniversary of the CanAm Series, 40th anniversary of James Hunt’s F1 Championship and the 100th Indianapolis 500.
