Zagato and Aston Martin team up for Vanquish stunner
Lightning has finally been proven to strike the same place twice! The ‘place’ in question is none other than Italian design house Zagato, after the firm successfully reinvigorated an Aston Martin Vanquish (again) to create a breath-taking concept for the exclusive Lake Como event.
Aston Martin and Zagato have renewed their vows to create their latest collaborative effort; the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato, which debuted at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
Zagato has been redesigning Aston Martins for almost half a century, with the most notable model being the stunning V12 Vantage Zagato of 2011. Their latest masterpiece, based on today’s Vanquish, is supplemented with new bespoke body panels and distinct styling details to make it even more special than the standard version of Aston’s supercar.
The exterior design was carefully sculpted by the hands of Zagato’s dedicated team in Milan under the watchful guidance of Aston’s own designers. The Vanquish Zagato features bodywork sculpted from one-piece panels of carbon fibre, with the Zagato trademark ‘double bubble’ roofline and a precise new rear-end with ‘bladed’ LED tail-lights.
The front grille is bigger, flaunting two bright LED lights inside it. A chunky contrasting carbon lower bodykit also features, with quad exhausts nestled in the rear diffuser. Inside, the Vanquish receives carbon fibre trim paired with bronze trim details and ‘Z’ pattern quilted leather.
Aston has made claims that the Zagato has ‘enhanced driving dynamics’ but there has not been any further elaboration on this feature. However, one thing we can be sure of is that the naturally aspirated V12 engine will receive a few more kilowatts than the standard Vanquish, bringing power up to 441kW.
Despite being dubbed as a concept car for now, Zagato has been known to produce these unique models in extremely small numbers. Exclusivity carries a heavy price, so expect to pay a lot more for the Vanquish Zagato over the standard Vanquish if you’re lucky enough to get a spot in the line to buy one.
