A small power increase but no turbo for next BRZ
For the 2017 model year, Subaru has introduced a limited-edition version of the BRZ called Series.Yellow.
As its name suggests; the sports car receives a striking yellow paint job, black 17-inch alloys, black mirror caps and black logos that add a sharp contrast to the overall look. Stepping inside the car, the interior has moved upmarket with black leather and Alcantara upholstery, as well as yellow contrast stitching on the seats, the dashboard, and the door panels.
Good news is that all Series.Yellow models come with carpeted floor mats highlighted by yellow stitching and a silver BRZ emblem – you get to enjoy a list of standard features such as dual-zone A/C, keyless entry with a push-button ignition, front courtesy lights, and dual illuminated vanity mirrors. Based on the BRZ Limited trim, it comes standard with the Performance Package which includes Brembo brakes and Sachs shock absorbers.
According to Subaru in terms of mechanical modifications, the Series.Yellow receives a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-four engine that powers the standard BRZ which is set to reach our shores in 2017. Power is rated at 152kW and 211Nm – from 147 kW and 205 Nm of twist over the outgoing model. However, the coupe is only offered with a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Expect the 2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow to arrive in SA 2017 with production to be limited to just 500 examples. Pricing information and details of how many will be finding homes in SA hasn’t been declared up till now.
