Lewis Hamilton could spice up AMG models
Three-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton recently revealed he wants to develop a self-named special edition.
Lewis Hamilton recently attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed to help launch the crazy fast Mercedes-AMG GT R but things are about to heat up as his involvement with the model could go deeper. Sources reveal that Lewis was approached by the company about the GT R project and asked him to get involved.
Lewis had ideas to do a limited-edition with the company at some stage but his ideas couldn’t be added and that didn’t discourage the racing driver as he noted “we’ve spoken about doing a limited-edition, an LH Series, at some stage. Whether it’s this car or another one, I will be very, very hands on.”
Lewis hasn’t revealed specification but he said “There’s no one that can set the car up like I can set it up.” He further went on to say that whatever model he ends up developing will feel as close as possible to an F1 car.
Currently, the much-anticipated Mercedes-AMG GT R features an aggressive body kit and a number of carbon fiber components which enable it to weigh 99 pounds less than the GT S. It also lurks an upgraded biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine which develops 430kW and 699Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra power and reduced weight, the GT R accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 318km/h.
