More fire breathing SVR models in the pipeline from JLR.

Jaguar Land Rover is reportedly planning to launch a new SVR model as frequently as every year through 2020. The current SVR extends to the Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type SVR.

The expansion comes amid large-scale investment by JLR in its Special Vehicle Operations division, which designs and builds SVR models. Earlier this week, SVO’s new (R3 828 331) Technical Centre opened in Coventry, England and it was announced that 250 new jobs would be created there.

Since it was inaugurated in 2014, SVO has also produced the F-Type-based Jaguar Project 7, the ultra-luxury Range Rover SVAutobiography, and the Jaguar E-Type Lightweight continuation cars. Now it has the capacity, SVO will also offer a Bespoke Commissioning service, similar to Bentley’s Mulliner.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic also opened its new headquarters this week. The former Heritage department will handle sales, restoration and parts supply for older JLR models.

John Edwards, Managing Director of SVO, said: “This new Technical Centre enables us to build on the successful launches of the Range Rover Sport SVR, Range Rover SVAutobiography and Jaguar F-TYPE SVR, and provide an excellent foundation for the growth of the SVO business with the introduction of exciting new Vehicle Personalisation programmes.”

He added: “Our business plans are driven by the desire for ‘halo’ vehicles and other exclusive products from customers in all corners of the globe. The vision for Special Vehicle Operations is to launch one new SVO car every year, on average, for at least the next four years.”
