Faster Macan Turbo is the only Porsche you need
Porsche’s obsession with morphing SUVs into sportscars continues with the Macan Turbo fitted with the optional performance package, now available in South Africa.
Another 30kW and 50Nm for a total output of 324kW and 600Nm from the car’s 3.6 litre V6 is a recipe for 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 272km/h. These represent gains of 0.4 seconds and 6km/h. Those are just the usual base points for deciphering speed but within the car’s wide glut of torque you’ll uncover more performance gains aided by a recalibrated PDK gearbox replete with punchier gear shifts.
Handling? Well in this respect Macan has few equals and yet Performance Pack ramps that up a notch too. An already taut chassis hugs the ground through Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) but if you prefer more control over the Macan’s ride height and don’t need the maximum road-hugging stance, air suspension is optional and comes with the self-levelling function.
Other upgrades to the Macan’s bespoke platform includes higher brake force through 390mm grooved discs (30mm bigger) with six pot calipers emblazoned in red. The sports chrono package, previously an option, is now standard. So too is the rorty exhaust system.
The Turbo Exterior Package is offered exclusively to the Macan Turbo Performance Pack so if you want your Macan to include 911 Turbo design wheels in 21-inch diameter, LED headlights and other black trimmings, you’ll be happy to know it’s all covered under warranty.
The Macan Turbo with Performance Package is available for order now. In South Africa, the new top model costs R1,540,000 (on a three-year drive plan.)
