Ford’s 2.2-litre diesel packs punch in new Ranger
Been known as the best surely comes with a certain level of stress. You’ve raised the bar, and the expectations are high, with competitors no doubt hoping to knock you off your podium. Perhaps this is how Ford feels with their trendy Ranger.

Dressing the 2.2 TDCi model in various levels of attire means the bakkie to appeal to an even wider audience and broadening its appeal. From the rugged blue collar worker, to the sophisticated exec, the Ranger blends in perfectly.
The Specification levels entice, and while on test we got comfortable behind the wheels of the high-spec XLT Double Cab.
Besides the usual modern day cabin layout, which we have become accustomed too, Ford continues to refine every aspect of the Ranger. It doesn’t feel outdated, but rather sophisticated and homely, to offer a high level of comfort.
Lots has been written about the Ranger and the comfort levels it offers, but this is further cemented thanks to the creature comforts added to the XLS package. Park assist, automatic headlights help navigating this big beast into those tight modern day parking spots.
Rather reassuring, the Ranger is easy to drive and the power output makes lugging those loads a breeze.
Words like Torque on Demand, intelligent four-wheel drive system and electronically controlled transfer case form an integral part of the Ranger’s inner workings to provide the over-all performance, which makes this bakkie so confident and surefooted off the beaten track.
Whether it’s on the tarred city streets, or gravel sand roads, the Ranger adapts well to its surroundings. A flick of the switch turns the Ranger into an adventure seeker, challenging itself to go further.
