Jaguar to launch Special Edition F-Type at the 2017 Simola Hill Climb.

Special Edition 400 Sport and SVR now with GoPro Data logging software

Last year it was the all new F-Pace and this year its Jaguars tech laden 423kW Jaguar F-Type, as well as a limited edition 294kW F-Type being launched at the annual Simola Hill Climb.

“The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb is an excellent opportunity to showcase a car like the Jaguar F-TYPE, a model that perfectly demonstrates the art of performance,” said Lisa Mallett

As mentioned in a previous article Jaguar will be bringing in a top driver, Randy Pobst to take on our local heroes, but what’s even more interesting is the new bit of tech built into the 2018 Jaguar.

Enthusiasts will be able to capture and share their driving experiences using the new ReRun app, developed in collaboration with GoPro. In a world-first, ReRun combines real-time video from the driver’s GoPro with key vehicle performance data including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g-force. The high-quality video – including unique ‘highlights’ sections – can be downloaded to the driver’s smartphone and shared on social media.

Many racing enthusiasts have seen or used this tech when timing the shopping run but this is a world first for a production car and fitting that it should have it’s first outing at the prestigious Jaguar Simola Hill Climb.

This year’s Jaguar Simola Hillclimb commences with Classic Car Friday on 5 May, when owners of historic road and race cars compete in their iconic cars for the Classic Conqueror trophy. From 6 – 7 May, attention will turn to the exhilarating King of the Hill competition. This will see the new Jaguar F-TYPEs competing alongside more than 80 other road-going sports cars, supercars and purpose-built race cars, to conquer the 1.9km-long Simola Hill road.

Spectator tickets for the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb start at R100 for a day pass and R220 for a pit pass. Tickets can be purchased on www.itickets.co.za. For more information, visit www.jaguarsimolahillclimb.com.
