Lexus CT 200h gets update for 2018
Lexus revealed their facelifted CT 200h, adding modern touches to keep it relevant in 2018.
The Lexus CT 200h has sold over 300,000 units since its global launch in 2011. In fact, the entry-level Lexus is so successful that it has become the manufacturers best-selling hybrid model.
The facelift introduces the spindle grille to the hatchback, along with sportier 16”-wheels and a contrasting roof finish. The overall effect is a sportier, more emotional design.
The interior, filled with premium materials, now comes standard with a 7”-display for the infotainment system, which can be increased to a 10.3”-display on the options list.
The real highlight of the Lexus CT 200h, though, is the engine. The combination of a 1.8-litre petrol engine, producing 73kW, and an electric motor, producing 60kW, give the entry-level Lexus the efficiency and performance of a luxury sedan in the package of a modern city-hatch. One of the biggest benefits of the hybrid engine is that there is no need to plug-in to charge, thanks to Lexus’ Energy Management System which ensures quiet running, seamless acceleration and the kind of performance expected from a premium hatchback.
The combined 100kW power output allows the hybrid-hatch to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 10.3 seconds before maxing out at its top speed of 180km/h. Fuel consumption is claimed at 4.1l/100km and CO2 emissions from 95g/km.
Aside from the Normal drive mode, the driver has access to three other drive modes that adapt steering, throttle and dynamic settings based on the current situation, namely EV, ECO and SPORT modes. ECO and Normal modes prioritise efficiency and comfort, while EV mode exclusively uses power produced by the electric motor. SPORT mode accesses every kilowatt of power and tightens up the dynamics of the hatch, providing the driver with a more spirited driving experience.
